Roma striker Tammy Abraham is finally edging closer to his long-awaited return to the pitch.

The Englishman has been regularly involved in group training throughout the entire duration of this international break.

Italian media suggest that Abraham’s response in training has been so positive from a physical and fitness point of view that Daniele De Rossi could choose to give him his first minutes in over nine months in the upcoming match with Lecce.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Abraham will travel with the team and – after surprising everyone in training with his improved condition – will be in all likelihood deployed in the final minutes of the game.

With Sardar Azmoun set to miss considerable time with a hamstring injury, this could be the perfect time for Abraham to pick up where he left off last year and help support Romelu Lukaku up front for the remainder of the season.
