Viktor Gyokeres, the 26-year-old forward from Sporting Lisbon, has reportedly become dissatisfied with the direction his club has taken in recent weeks and is considering a move away.

This news has drawn attention from several top European clubs, with reports from Portugal (h/t Mundo Deportivo) mentioning Barcelona as a potential suitor due to the veteran status of their star striker, Robert Lewandowski.

Gyokeres has been one of the standout performers in European football this season.

Known for his sharp attacking instincts and impressive goal-scoring ability, the Swedish striker has made a significant impact both in the Portuguese league and the UEFA Champions League.

With 25 goals in 23 appearances this season, he has proven himself as one of Europe’s top forwards. His ability to excel on the big stage was evident when he netted a hat-trick in Sporting Lisbon’s 4-1 victory over Manchester City.

As it turns out, the recent departure of head coach Ruben Amorim has taken a toll on the team.

Under Amorim, Sporting had been a dominant force in both domestic and European competitions, achieving impressive results like the aforementioned win against Manchester City.

Since his exit, the club has struggled, failing to secure a victory in their last four matches across both the league and the Champions League, a clear sign of instability.

Barcelona not interested in Gyokeres

Gyokeres’ market value is estimated at €70 million, a significant fee for Barcelona, especially given their current financial difficulties.

However, the club’s interest in him could be driven by the need to find a long-term successor to Lewandowski, whose time at Barcelona may be coming to an end in the near future.

On the other hand, reports indicate that Gyokeres is not currently in the plans of Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, for the 2025-26 season, making his future at the club uncertain.
