This is according to transfer guru Darren Witcoop on X, where he has claimed that Swansea have now joined the race alongside Rangers and numerous Championship rivals.

Swansea have enjoyed a fruitful summer window ahead of Luke Williams’ first full campaign in charge, bringing in Lawrence Vigouroux, Gonçalo Franco, Ji-sung Eom and most recently Zan Vipotnik, who scored 10 times for Bordeaux in Ligue 2 last season prior to their imposed demotion to the Championnat National.

Williams has also sanctioned outgoings at the other end too, with Cameron Congreve and Joel Cotterill both heading to Bromley and Swindon Town on loan respectively, while Jerry Yates has also reunited with Paul Warne at Derby County for the 2024/25 season and Nathan Wood has too linked back up with Russell Martin following his move to Southampton.

Swansea City in Tyrese Campbell transfer race

Witcoop’s fresh reveal discloses that Swansea are the latest club to display an interest in Campbell. The versatile forward has been a wanted man following his exit from the Potteries and appears poised to find a new destination in the coming weeks.

The report mentions that Campbell is continuing to negotiate with a number of Championship clubs, although any potential deal for Swansea is still seemingly in the early stages.

Campbell has previously been linked to West Bromwich Albion, Sheffield United and the Jack Army’s fierce rivals Cardiff City, who themselves have made a series of impressive captures across the 2024 summer window.

Witcoop adds that Rangers have also lodged interest in the 24-year-old frontman. The Gers are reportedly in for Plymouth Argyle’s Morgan Whittaker, who has a £10m price tag ahead of a likely departure from Home Park this summer.

Tyrese Campbell would be a good signing for Swansea City

Given his status as a free agent, Campbell would represent a real coup for Swansea as they look to improve on last season’s disappointing 14th-placed finish.

Their fortunes in the previous term were dictated by a sore lack of firepower up top, with Yates and Jamal Lowe both failing to rekindle their prior Championship form and find the back of the net on a consistent basis.

The ambitious arrival of Vipotnik, also a free transfer, should promise to address those glaring issues already, but squad rotation is a vital component of Williams’ coaching philosophy, and he’ll be keen to ensure that there isn’t a sole burden on the Slovenian international.

His goalscoring record in France and his native Slovenia does inspire hope that he’ll hit the ground running in Wales, but Campbell possesses years of Championship experience and was impressive for Stoke - even if injuries and inconsistency did plague him at times.

Capable of leading the line or playing out wide, Campbell is a multi-functional forward who has the requisite end product in terms of his goals and assists output but can also progressively carry the ball and take on opponents. The Swans often looked beleaguered and one dimensional in their attacking play in 2023/24, so you can imagine that a player like Campbell would certainly be welcomed.

Of all the clubs touted to race for his signature too, Swansea could well present the best option.

Cardiff had appeared a strong potential move but the signings of Wilfried Kanga, Chris Willock and Anwar El Ghazi could potentially see his game time limited if he was to move to the Welsh capital.

West Brom, meanwhile, do urgently need a striker following the controversial sale of Brandon Thomas-Asante, and there could be an intriguing race between Swans and the Baggies at some stage.
