Swansea City goalkeeper Carl Rushworth is being considered for a place in Gareth Southgate's England Euro's squad, according to The Mirror.

The 22-year-old joined the Swans on loan from Premier League side Brighton ahead of the 2023/24 season, and has been very impressive, despite playing in a team that has struggled towards the lower echelons of the table.

The goalkeeper has been one of the Swans' players of the season, and he has also starred during previous loan spells with both Walsall and Lincoln City.

Whilst it's rare to see players from the Championship named in the England squad, it's not unheard of, and Rushworth has an advantage as Swansea's goalkeeping coach, Martyn Margetson, is also England's goalkeeping coach, so he works with him every day and knows what's he capable of.

With the European Championship taking place in just two months' time, Rushworth has shot up the pecking order for an England first-team call-up.

Jordan Pickford is clearly nailed on to be Southgate's first-choice goalkeeper, but some of the usual back-ups are either injured or currently struggling for regular football.

This means that Southgate may have to select players he doesn't usually select as he needs to name three goalkeepers in his squad.

Aaron Ramsdale has fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal since David Raya's arrival, and his form hasn't been great when he's been given rare opportunities to play.

Nick Pope has been ruled out with an injury since December and Sam Johnstone looks set to miss the rest of the season with injury.

Meanwhile, England U21 international James Trafford has been dropped by Burnley in recent weeks, so Rushworth is seemingly in a good position to be named in the England squad.

Having played every single league game for Swansea this season, Rushworth isn't short of playing time, and England goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson has clearly been impressed with his performances this season.

If the Swansea loanee isn't called up to the England squad this summer, you feel it won't be too long until he's involved with them in the future, with Rushworth clearly a very impressive prospect.

Carl Rushworth has probably been Swansea's standout performer this season, and had the club not signed him they could well be in a relegation battle this season.

The 22-year-old has made 45 appearances in all competitions for Swansea this season, conceding 65 goals and has kept 10 clean sheets.

Swansea's defence has been shaky at times this season, particularly in the first few weeks of Luke Williams' reign, so Rushworth has been a busy man at times this season.

According to Fotmob, Rushworth is in the top 10% of Championship goalkeepers for a number of stats. Saves (137), goals prevented (3.90), and accurate long balls (261) are all some of the best in the division.

It's easy to see why the England management are taking a keen interest in the player, and you wouldn't bet against Rushworth being in the England squad in the near future.
