We asked fans for their thoughts on sustainability at Brentford to understand if our activity so far has resonated with supporters. The survey results will help the club improve action, communication and participation.
2,501 fans responded to the survey, up from 901 fans in 2024. Key highlights from the survey include:
Fans informed us that getting more value for money would influence a switch to more sustainable travel on matchdays.
Feedback also indicated that improvements to Gtech Community Stadium on matchdays could encourage fans to take more sustainable action, such as introducing a wider range of plant-based food options and clearer signage for recycling bins.
Brentford sustainability manager James Beale said: “We look back on the last 12 months and see the I Came By Train collaboration and the planting of the Gtech Community Garden and Brentford FC Orchard as particular highlights that have made a meaningful impact on our people and in our community.”
“We’re pleased to see that a growing number of Brentford fans recognise the importance of sustainability. Support from fans has been essential to our progress, and there’s more to achieve by continuing to work together.
“We want to get as many Brentford fans as possible involved in our sustainability initiatives, while we continue our work in the background to cut carbon emissions, reduce waste and restore nature in our community."

Feedback from our 2023/24 survey was influential in guiding our actions at the club in the past year.
This includes making it clearer and simpler for fans to recycle on matchday, making it easier and safer for fans to cycle to Gtech Community Stadium, and publishing our first sustainability report, bringing all our sustainability work in to one place.
If you didn’t complete the survey and would like to hear more about sustainability at the club, opt in to be contacted in the future.
By opting in, you may receive opportunities to work with the club on activity, such as joining the sustainability working group or volunteering to maintain the Gtech Community Garden.
Interested fans can also join Sustaina-Bees, an independent group for Brentford fans with knowledge and concern about the environmental crisis.
The group frequently organises cycle rides to the Gtech and accessible away grounds on matchdays. For more information, visit the group’s Facebook page.
