Is FC Bayern looking for an interim solution on the coaching bench this summer? According to the latest reports, Munich is definitely considering this scenario and already has a candidate in its sights.

Regardless of who succeeds Thomas Tuchel at FC Bayern in the summer, the cancellations of Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann could give the impression that the new head coach is only a C-solution.

Säbener Straße also seems to be pondering the situation. The most recently rumoured candidates such as Robert De Zerbi or Unai Emery would cost a lot of money and have not completely convinced the Bayern bosses.

According to kicker, FCB are considering an interim solution to bridge the gap until the summer of 2025.

Klopp will be on the market in summer 2025

Rumours have recently been circulating that FCB are considering an interim solution until 2025 after the setbacks with Alonso and Nagelsmann, in order to then secure the services of Jürgen Klopp. The outgoing Liverpool coach will take a sabbatical year and would then be available (free of charge).

Sebastian Hoeneß and Xabi Alonso could also become an issue at FCB again in just under 12 months‘ time.

Hansi Flick has been rumoured as a possible option for such a scenario. The former Bayern coach is said to be open to a comeback at the German record champions.

According to kicker, the name Lucien Favre has also been mentioned within Bayern. The 66-year-old Swiss is very familiar with the Bundesliga from his time at Hertha, Gladbach and Dortmund. Most recently, Favre was under contract with OGC Nice in France. He has been without a club since the beginning of 2023 and would therefore be available immediately and at a favourable price.

Another point that could speak in Favre’s favour: He and Max Eberl know each other extremely well. The two worked together successfully at Mönchengladbach for four years.

Similar to Flick, however, Favre also faces the question of how to approach the planned personnel changes when only a temporary solution is available.

The fact that the Champions League final will take place in the Allianz Arena in 2025 also speaks against a „one-year solution“ and those in charge therefore do not see the coming season as a transition.
