A somewhat surprising member of the first-team ranks at Real Madrid is leading all of La Liga in an impressive statistical category across the season to date.

That’s according to WhoScored, who have on Tuesday brought the statistic in question to light.

The Real star in question comes in the form of Federico Valverde.

An ever-present in the engine room ranks of boss Carlo Ancelotti, Uruguayan international Valverde has continued to go about his business in a characteristically stellar manner this season, maintaining his status as something of an unsung hero.

The 25-year-old is fresh off playing a pivotal role in Los Blancos booking their spot in the semi-finals of the Champions League, courtesy of all-action performances in Madrid and Manchester alike.

As alluded to above, though, it is instead Valverde’s endeavours on the domestic front which have today turned heads across social media.

This comes amid confirmation that the former Peñarol talent ‘has made more successful passes in the final third than any other player in La Liga this season’.

Just how many final third entries has Valverde managed? A whopping 556.
