Unión Santa Fe 2-2 Patronato

Unión Santa Fe couldn’t take advantage of a highly-favourable matchup against lowly Patronato, as they surrendered the lead twice at home to finish 2-2.

Third-placed Unión have taken just one point from their last two matches following a three-match winning run.

Diego Zabala would open the scoring for the hosts in the 40th minute, as Patronato’s 41-year-old goalkeeper Sebastián Bértoli failed to deal with a fairly routine effort.

However, the visitors would find an equaliser just before half-time to change the manager’s team talk. Facundo Barceló scored on a thunderous header from close range after a fine cross from Gabriel Carabajal.

In the second half, a 70th-minute goal from Yeimar Gómez gave Unión a 2-1 lead, but again the hosts would quickly surrender as the hosts found the equaliser through Matías Garrido less than 10 minutes later.

Unión remain in third place on 19 points, while Patronato moved up from 25th to 24th and are currently on eight points.

Belgrano 2-0 Gimnasia

Belgrano defeated Gimnasia 2-0 on Friday night to end a seven-match winless run that dates back to the end of August.

Maximiliano Lugo started the scoring for the hosts, as he took advantage of some poor defending and struck his 27th-minute effort into the top corner.

Just before the final whistle, 26-year-old Jonás Aguirre scored just his fourth professional goal, his second in his last three matches, to kill the game off and bring Belgrano up to 11 points.

Gimnasia remain in 11th place on 14 points.
