The news about a potential move for Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea has gone pretty quiet in recent months, but a report from the Manchester Evening News this morning has sparked things up again.

The Man U winger wants out and they’re happy to sell him. But so far, there’s been little to no interest. Samuel Luckhurst says that the winger’s camp have rejected approaches from middlemen to try and secure him a move.

The likes of super agent Pini Zahavi, who has decades of history with Chelsea, have tried to get involved, but so far Garnacho wants to do it himself.

The involvements of Zahavi has a particular interest for Chelsea as he represents Christopher Nkunku, who the Blues are keen to move on this summer. The idea of a swap deal was mooted earlier in the summer, and one can see why.

It could suit both parties, given they both want rid of the players in question and can’t seem to drum up interest from elsewhere.

Chelsea’s wide options a question again after Madueke departure

By all accounts Noni Madueke will be announced as an Arsenal player tomorrow, confirming a £52m move away from Chelsea. That creates an interesting imbalance in the squad.

With Madueke, Jadon Sancho and Mykhailo Mudryk all effectively departing from the squad in one summer, Pedro Neto is left as the only senior winger.

Of course there’s a host of extremely gifted young talent – Tyrique George, Estevao Willian and Jamie Gittens – as well as players like Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer who can play out wide in a slightly different role.

Do the club go for Garnacho, or trust that selection to get the job done next season?
