A harmless comment turned into social media storm for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes who drew criticism from several Chelsea fans after congratulating Joao Pedro on winning the 2025 FIFA Club World cup.

"I’m a World Champion"

Following Chelsea’s 3 - 0 victory over Paris Saint Germain in the final at MetLife Stadium, Joao Pedro posted photo receiving his gold medal from FIFA President Gianni Infantino, captioned:

"I’m a world champion"

"Congrats, J! Keep working hard"

But that comment didn’t sit well with part of the Blues fanbase who took offense, believing the Real Madrid winger shouldn’t celebrate rival club’s success especially after Madrid’s earlier 4 - 0 defeat to PSG in the semi final.

Media reports suggest that Rodrygo, now 24 could leave Real Madrid this summer after falling out of favor with new coach Xabi Alonso. While Chelsea aren't among the clubs chasing him, Liverpool, Arsenal and Bayern Munich are reportedly monitoring his situation.
