Sunderland consider West Ham United’s Nayef Aguerd (29) as a priority target to bolster their defensive options before the end of the transfer window, according to a report from Foot Mercato. The Moroccan defender is considered an option for several clubs before the window closes on Tuesday.

Aguerd is one of many centre-backs that the newly-promoted Premier League club have attempted to sign this summer. Sunderland have expressed an interest in signing Baofdé Diakité and Loic Badé, but have failed to secure the services of both Frenchmen. The Wearside outfit will be hoping that their luck improves with their pursuit of the 29-year-old defender.

Aguerd one to watch?

With less than a week left of the transfer window, the West Ham United defender looks like he could exit East London before the window slams shut. The former Rennes defender spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad and is not seen as part of Graham Potter’s plans at the London Stadium.
