Luis Henrique says that “a real team is being born” at Inter Milan.
The Brazilian gave his thoughts in an interview in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. He also said that he takes “risks” under Cristian Chivu.
Brazilian winger Luis Henrique has now been an Inter player for a couple months.
The Nerazzurri signed Henrique from Marseille at the start of the summer. They had in fact been negotiating a deal to bring him in since the spring.
The 23-year-old is a player who Inter identified as an ideal backup to Denzel Dumfries at right-wingback.
Furthermore, Henrique is a player who can give Inter greater tactical versatility.
The Brazilian’s speed and dribbling ability give him a bit of a different profile to a player like Dumfries. And even potentially the ability to play in other positions than at wingback.
This could be particularly important since Inter are working under a new coach. Cristian Chivu replaced Simone Inzaghi after the latter left for the big money offer of Al-Hilal.

Luis Henrique commented that “on the right flank I’m studying Dumfries.”
“He’s a player of an extraordinary level,” he commented the Dutchman. “I’d love to become a hammer like him.”
“But I also like starting on the left and moving inside to be more unpredictable. I think I have the right qualities to do that.”
Then, Henrique noted that “at Marseille I also played as a central midfielder.”
“The movements are different. But I enjoy it. I’ll play where the coach chooses, and try to learn.”
Meanwhile, Henrique said that “You can see this is a real team” after Inter’s friendly against Monaco.
“Having played in Ligue 1, I know how hard it is to come up against Monaco.”
“And it’s not easy for anyone to come back when the team is a man down.”
“The preparations have been tough,” Henrique commented. “And you can feel it in your legs.”
“But a strong team is being born,” the Brazilian insisted.

Meanwhile, Henrique praised Inter coach Cristian Chivu. “He has the soul of a player,” he said of the Romanian.
“So he understands what you need. And how you feel inside.”
“He’s given me confidence, and the freedom to dribble.”
“He wants me to play my own style of football,” Henrique said of his coach. “To take risks.”
The 23-year-old said that Chivu “encourages me to try one-on-ones.”
“I’m also learning a lot about tactics. Positioning is really important here.”
“But for my part, I think I also bring some Brazilian joy, dribbling, and flair.”
Then, Henrique called competing for the starting spot on the right flank with Denzel Dumfries “the challenge I was looking for at this point in my career.”
“And I say this with utmost admiration for Denzel.”
“I’ve always dreamed of playing for a big team with top players. And that motivates me to find my place.”
Henrique noted that “Healthy competition can help you.”
