PSV left-back Philipp Max has joined Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt on loan for the rest of the season, the club has confirmed.

The German defender, 29, has joined his third Bundesliga side of his career as he joins Oliver Glasner’s side as cover after Luca Pellegrini suffered a calf injury.

The deal also includes an option to buy from the Champions League side which could well spell the end of Max’s time at the Philips Stadion.

Max joined PSV Eindhoven in May 2020 from Augsburg and has been a regular first-team player for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side starting the majority of league matches this season but was on the bench in PSV’s last match at home to Go Ahead Eagles.

The former Bayern Munich academy player started his professional career at Schalke 04 making 54 appearances for their second team before making his debut for the senior squad in March 2014 against Borussia Dortmund.

A month later, he joined Bundesliga 2 side Karlsruher before making the jump to the top-tier of German football with Augsburg.
