In a recent press conference, Strasbourg defender Thomas Delaine shared his thoughts on his team’s upcoming match against Monaco, the remaining games in the season, his personal performance, and the importance of determination and humility in the game.

Delaine expressed his confidence in his team’s ability to achieve a positive result against Monaco emphasizing the importance of preparation, regeneration, and analysis in their approach to the game stating, “We had time to prepare well, to regenerate and to analyze our future opponent. Monaco is a quality team but if we were able to achieve a result in Marseille, we can also do it in Monaco by using the right ingredients.”

When asked about the remaining games in the season, Delaine admitted that his team did not have a significant impact in the final third which can make finishing the season difficult, “We don’t have a real threat in the final third. There are 10 games left to play, it’s still going to be a long and difficult road.”

The 31-year-old defender also spoke about his personal performance and his satisfaction at finding a place as a starter and more importantly being pain-free, “I’m trying to do the best I can to help the team. Having found a place as a starter is not revenge. At the moment, I feel good, I don’t have pain anymore. Knock on wood.”

Delaine highlighted the value of facing strong teams like Monaco and Lens and the need to approach each game with the right mindset to be able to take points, something that may be missing in the locker room at the moment, “It’s always good to face teams like Monaco and Lens. If you put the right determination, the good desire while keeping a certain humility, we are able to take points.”

Strasbourg continues their climb from the relegation spots this Sunday against Monaco. Away from home and facing one of Ligue 1’s most in-form teams will require the change of mindset the defender spoke about.
