Strasbourg’s Loïc Désiré at the centre of Manchester United-Chelsea proxy war?

INEOS-owned OGC Nice are in the market for a new sporting director. As confirmed by club president Jean-Pierre Rivère on Sunday, Florent Ghisolfi is AS Roma-bound and will therefore leave the club just 18 months after arriving from RC Lens. Nice-Matin understand that RC Strasbourg’s Loïc Désiré is a target for Les Aiglons.

Désiré is the head of recruitment at BlueCo-owned Strasbourg, which makes Nice’s touted pursuit of the Frenchman a potential battle between INEOS and BlueCo, and by extension, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Nice-Matin understand that Désiré is one of two targets for the Riviera club, who have successfully qualified for next season’s UEFA Europa League. Stade Rennais’ Florian Maurice, who looks set to leave the Breton club this summer, is the alternative option.

However, L’Équipe journalist Cyril Olivès-Berthet understands that there are no signs of Désiré leaving Strasbourg this summer. Nice may therefore have to look elsewhere for their next sporting director.
