Jean-Ricner Bellegarde’s (25) move to Wolverhampton Wanderers may be in jeopardy after RC Strasbourg Alsace had turned down the Premier League side’s bid for the midfielder, according to Les Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace.

The 25-year-old midfielder has reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with Wolves, Foot Mercato understands. Bellegarde has started the 2023/24 Ligue 1 season in scintillating form, scoring twice and registering two assists in just three games. Wolves are in the market for a midfielder after parting ways with Matheus Nunes, who joined Premier League champions Manchester City. L’Equipe understands that Wolves had submitted a €8m bid without bonuses to Strasbourg for Bellegarde.

Les Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace understand that the offer has been turned down by club president Marc Keller. The outlet adds that Keller is intent on retaining Bellegarde, even though the midfielder is entering his final year of contract.

L’Équipe report that the opening bid was for €8m excluding bonuses.

Furthermore, the local outlet are reporting that Bellegarde has left the club’s training ground whilst his teammates were starting their training session.
