As reported by Sacha Tavolieri, Clearlake Capital-owned Ligue 1 side Strasbourg are in the process of concluding a club record acquisition in the form of the arrival of 20-year-old central defender Abakar Sylla from Belgian Pro League outfit Club Brugge.

The two clubs are closing in on a fee agreement worth more than €20m, including bonuses. Club Brugge are convinced that the deal will go ahead, which is why they have authorised the Ivorian to depart from their pre-season training camp in order to finalise personal terms and undergo a medical with RCSA.

Sylla is due to arrive in eastern France on Friday to undergo a medical and conclude his transfer.

Strasbourg were recently acquired by the owners of Premier League side Chelsea in the first step made by their American owners towards formalising a multi-club ownership group. Clearlake continue discussions to add additional football clubs including one in Brazil.
