The Athletic confirms that Gerrard has already penned the deal with an official announcement expected soon.

The ex-Aston Villa and Rangers coach has found life tough in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Ettifaq currently winless in their last eight games.

The Dammam side have also lost their marquee player in the last 24 hours with Jordan Henderson cutting short his stint in the Middle East by joining Ajax.

But none of that has put off the Al-Ettifaq hierarchy who are convinced of Gerrard’s quality and will continue to back their coach in the transfer market.
