LAFC have announced that head coach Steve Cherundolo will step down from his position at the end of the 2025 MLS season.
The American has seen major success in Los Angeles, becoming the only coach in MLS history to win the Supporters’ Shield and MLS Cup in his first season as head coach, doing so in 2022.
He subsequently lead the club to the Concacaf Champions League (now Champions Cup) final and another MLS Cup appearance the following season.
“It is an honor to be the head coach of LAFC,” Cherundolo said in a club statement. “After much reflection and discussion with my family, we made the decision that at the end of this year we will return to Germany.
"I love Los Angeles and LAFC, but this move is in the best interest of my family, even as it will ultimately take us away from a team, city, organization and fan base that I am proud to represent."
LAFC currently sit in 7th in the Western Conference after a sluggish start to the campaign.
