Newcastle are hopeful of tying star sibling duo Sean and Matty Longstaff down to new long-term deals, manager Steve Bruce has confirmed.
This week, the club secured goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka to a new six-year deal.
Prior to Saturday’s clash with Wolves, Bruce was quizzed on who could be next in following the Slovakian in putting pen to paper.
“With the two of them [Longstaff brothers], Lee Charnley is in discussions,” Bruce told reporters, quoted by the Chronicle.
“They have the same agent so the discussions are with that agent.
“These things don’t just take on day anymore. With Martin, it was the best part of two-and-a-half months.
“They are two young lads with a very big future so I hope that we can tie them up as best we can.
“I know that Lee remains in discussions with two or three more players.”
The younger Longstaff’s deal expires at the end of the current season and he can begin negotiating with foreign clubs in January.
Although Sean recently penned an extension, the Magpies are hoping for a longer deal due to his rapid rise and interest from other clubs, notably Manchester United.
