But they secured progression to the fourth round of the FA Cup after emerging 1-0 victors.

Harvey Elliott scored the only goal of the game in the 13th minute as he crashed home an effort from some distance.

It was a goal worthy of winning any game.

Stefan Bajcetic impresses on FA Cup debut

Jurgen Klopp fielded a weakened side for the trip to Wolves.

Stefan Bajcetic, just 18 years old, was named in the starting lineup for his FA Cup debut.

And he put on a show as he dazzled in midfield.

The youngster looked incredibly composed in possession and provided slid protection to Liverpool’s back-line.

Despite his youth, Bajcetic never panicked under pressure and he showed that in the first half with a saucy turn to evade the attention of an opponent.

Bajcetic received the ball from Caoimhin Kelleher in the 33rd minute.

The Spaniard was being quickly closed down but he expertly evaded the pressure as he produced a half-turn, making his opponent fall to the ground.

Bajcetic was voted as Man-of-the-Match by Liverpool fans on the club’s official Twitter page.

His impressive highlights have now emerged and you can view them below…

Stefan Bajcetic praised by Liverpool icons

Two Liverpool icons were thoroughly impressed by Bajcetic’s performance.

Luis Garcia tweeted: “You will say that I’m saying this because he’s a Spanish player but…Bajcetic is showing credentials to be the present/future midfielder of LFC & Spain!!”

While Jamie Carragher said: “”Good win for @LFC. 18yr old Stefan Bajcetic was outstanding”.

Jurgen Klopp was also full of praise for the youngster.

“Good boy, good player. Very smart in his movements,” he told reporters, per This Is Anfield.

“The younger you are, the more important it is that you have a good start in the game.

“He had a few situations – I’m not sure if he saw that he had space or just hoped that he had space – when he turned and there actually was space. He did really well.

“What helps then, really, is that he wins these challenges. The last few steps before he blocks the ball, that’s really good.

“And having then Thiago next to him is, I think, pretty helpful.

“Thiago is talking a lot on the pitch – and Naby was really there tonight, which is obviously very helpful.”

Bajcetic could be in the frame to start when Liverpool welcome Chelsea to Anfield for their Premier League clash on Saturday.
