After already seeing off San Jose Earthquakes and LA Galaxy in their cup run, Sacramento Republic FC overcame Sporting Kansas City on penalties after a 0-0 draw on Wednesday to book their place in the final.

It means the USL Championship side are just 90 minutes away from becoming the first lower-division team to lift the US Open Cup trophy since the Rochester Rhinos in 1999.

And a place in the 2023 Concacaf Champions League would be a huge bonus for the second-division outfit too.

Orlando City will meet Sacramento Republic having defeated New York Red Bulls by a 5-1 scoreline to book their place in the US Open Cup final for the first time in club history.

Despite winning by such a large margin, it was the visitors who struck first as Lewis Morgan put New York on top in first-half stoppage time.

However, César Araújo equalised before the intermission and would complete his brace in the second half.

Mauricio Pereyra, Facundo Torres, and Benji Michel also notched goals for the Lions.

FC Dallas get big Richards payday

A couple numbers have been floated out there, but, per sources, FC Dallas' sell-on % in Chris Richards is 35%. So they get 35% of the fee Crystal Palace paid Bayern Munich. The deal is around $15m up front, $20 with add-ons. So Dallas get at least $5m.

Minnesota United ‘in talks’ over Jonathan Gonzalez

Minnesota United are in talks to sign central midfielder Jonathan Gonzalez from CF Monterrey, per source. Nothing imminent/close yet. Gonzalez, 23, is a former US youth int'l, filed switch to Mexico and has three caps with El Tri. He's made 114 appearances with Rayados.
