Villarreal defender Jorge Cuenca is on his way to Fulham’s pre-season camp after the Cottagers agreed a deal for him, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Fulham boss Marco Silva is stepping up efforts to reinforce his squad and recently agreed a deal to sign Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal.
He is now looking to bolster his backline and a fee has been thrashed out with La Liga side Villarreal for Cuenca.
The talks between the two clubs over the deal are at an advanced enough stage that Cuenca is travelling today to link up with Fulham.
Cuenca will head to Fulham’s pre-season camp as the Cottagers look to get the deal over the line.
Fulham are paying Villarreal a fee of €8m plus add-ons for the services of the defender.
Cuenca’s former club Barcelona will bank 20 per cent of the sum.
The 27-year-old defender clocked 37 appearances across all competitions for Villarreal last term.
