Star tenor Jonas Kaufmann to sing in Kaiser's honour

Star tenor Jonas Kaufmann will sing at the memorial service for Franz Beckenbauer from 15:00 CET on Friday at the Allianz Arena (free admission passes HERE). The Munich native, one of the most renowned opera singers in the world, will provide a fitting musical backdrop to the farewell to Beckenbauer. Kaufmann will sing three pieces, including the Italian version of "Time to say Goodbye" ("Con te partiro") at the beginning of the service.

Jonas Kaufmann: "It's an honour for me to be able to play a part in this special memorial service for Franz Beckenbauer. I grew up in Munich and have been a fan of FC Bayern since childhood. Franz Beckenbauer, in my eyes, is the biggest personality in the history of the club and German football overall. As a sportsman and a person he's unmatched."
