Star free agent Caroline Weir completes move to Real Madrid

Free agent midfielder Caroline Weir has signed for Spanish giants Real Madrid, the club have confirmed.

The Scotland international had been available after departing Manchester City following four successful seasons.

And she has now made a long-anticipated move to the Spanish capital, Los Blancos announced on Thursday night.

In doing so, Weir becomes only the second Scottish player ever to line out for Real Madrid at senior level.

She follows in the footsteps of John Fox Watson, who made a solitary appearance for the club in 1948/49.

Weir leaves English football after winning five major trophies there across her time with Arsenal and Manchester City.
