Standard Liege want to keep Philip Zinckernagel and Steven Alzate next season | OneFootball

As reported by LDH, Standard Liege are looking into ways to keep Philip Zinckernagel and Steven Alzate at the club next season. Both players joined on loan without purchase options, with Zinckernagel coming over from Olympiakos and Alzate from Brighton. The two have been influential in Standard’s surprisingly good season, with former Watford and Nottingham Forest attacker Zinckernagel the sides current top scorer.

In recent weeks both players have expressed their happiness of playing for Standard and how they would be open to returning next season. The most likely option, according to the report, is that their loans are extended for a further season. Should the side qualify for European football, they could certainly do with bringing the two back.

28-year-old Zinckernagel, who made his name with Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt, has scored seven goals in 20 league games for Ronny Deila’s side. Colombian international Alzate has scored once and provided two assists in his 19 league appearances. The London born midfielder began his career with Leyton Orient, before moving on to Brighton in 2017.
