Schalke were relegated this season and Frey failed to score during 15 games in the Bundesliga. However, he did manage to provide three assists.

Standard lacked a prolific striker last season, and clearly see 28-year-old Frey as a perfect fit. The striker did once score five goals against them for Antwerp during the 2021/2022 season.

The club recently announced the signing of former Burnley midfielder Aiden O’Neill from Melbourne City on a four year deal.
