The Stade Marquet in Monaco was renamed Stade Didier Deschamps at a ceremony on Wednesday.
Deschamps, a World Cup winner as a player, already had a stadium named after him in his hometown of Bayonne but has been honoured yet again after leading France to the top of world football.
“For me and my family, it is a huge honour to have the name of my family associated with this stage,” Deschamps said.
“The most important thing is the little ones, the young footballers. Seeing smiles, tears, joy, happiness, there’s nothing more beautiful.”
Prince Albert of Monaco was in attendance at the ceremony, which took place near AS Monaco’s Stade Louis II.
