Moises Caicedo has returned to Chelsea training 72 hours before the Club World Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Ecuador international went down injured towards the end of Tuesday’s semi-final victory over Fluminense and received treatment on the pitch before hobbling off.

Chelsea, who had used all of their allotted substitutions by that time, had to finish the game with 10 men as a result, and, naturally, there was concern that Caicedo would also be ruled out of the final.

There was, however, no sign of fellow midfielder Romeo Lavia, who hasn't featured for the Blues since their 4-1 win over Benfica in the round of 16.

Noni Madueke trained with the squad despite being linked with a £50million move to Arsenal.

Caicedo appeared to have confirmed beforehand that he would be fit for Sunday's Club World Cup final against the Champions League winners.

“Moi [Caicedo] twisted his ankle,” said Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca. “When it happened, I told him, because there were just two or three minutes to go, that we could finish with 10 players. It's important that we don't get too worked up because we have a game on Sunday.

“He said he would try, but he felt pain. So, hopefully, he can be fit for Sunday.”

Caicedo, though, now appears to have confirmed that he will be fit enough to play this weekend, after posting a message on Instagram that read: “See you on Sunday, Blues”.

Maresca had implored the midfielder "to do everything to be on the pitch on Sunday", and the Chelsea manager seems to have got his wish.

Caicedo has been an integral part of Maresca's side and was crowned both Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season at Chelsea's end-of-season awards in May.

The 23-year-old didn't miss a single Premier League game last term but was absent through suspension during Chelsea's Club World Cup quarter-final victory over Palmeiras.

Maresca, though, said that regardless of the result, Chelsea should be proud to have made the inaugural final of the expanded summer competition.

“We are very happy and very proud to play the final,” he said. “The reason why is that this is the Club World Cup, the best clubs in the world are here. So for us to be there on Sunday is something we have to be proud and happy about.”
