Sport Bild reports that St Pauli head coach Alexander Blessin is a candidate for the vacant RB Leipzig job in the summer.
The current St.Pauli head coach has an outside chance of taking over Leipzig in the summer. Blessin was previously a coach for Leipzig, so he is familiar with the Red Bull set-up.
Blessin’s St Pauli are currently 15th in the Bundesliga but have one of the better defences in the league. While at his previous role in Belgium with Union Saint-Gilloise, he nearly led them to the Belgian Pro League title, after finishing the regular season top of the table.
If the Hamburg-based side are relegated, then Blessin will be one of the cheaper options in Leipzig’s pursuit of the replacement for Marco Rose. Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Röhl is the other cheap option.
It is clear that Leipzig once again wants a manager with history in the Red Bull School of Football. Away from Blessin and Röhl, Leipzig have also been linked with Oliver Glasner, Matthias Jaissle and Roger Schmidt, all of whom also have a history at Red Bull.
For the rest of the season, Zsolt Löw is in charge.
