Squad shake-up in the summer: Bayern puts Minjae Kim on the sales list

Minjae Kim has only impressed in phases at FC Bayern this season. With his two mistakes in the Champions League semi-final first leg against Real Madrid, his reputation at FCB has deteriorated further. Now he is even rumoured to be on Munich’s list of players to be dropped.

With his poor positioning before conceding the first goal and his overly greedy tackling behaviour, which led to the penalty that resulted in the equaliser, Minjae Kim has not only angered many FC Bayern fans. The management is apparently also prepared to let the South Korean leave after just one season if a suitable offer is made.

According to BILD, the performance against Real has given the Bayern bosses pause for thought. The South Korean was previously not necessarily considered a candidate for sale. Now, however, a possible departure of the centre-back is a concrete topic at the Isar.

Recently, reports have been circulating that Napoli are interested in bringing him back. If the Italians could raise a transfer fee of 50 million euros, FCB would be prepared to sell Kim.

Tuchel and Neuer defend Kim

While Thomas Tuchel clearly criticised Kim for his poor defensive behaviour immediately after the game, the Bayern coach defended the defender a few days later: „He is someone who wants to defend very aggressively, who defines himself by actively stealing the ball. He’s paid for that twice now, at the highest level. But mistakes happen in a good drive, which is why the criticism is mild,“ he emphasised.

FCB captain Manuel Neuer also explained that Kim should not be labelled as a scapegoat: „Mistakes happen, that’s part of football. But that doesn’t mean he’ll play badly in the next few games. It wasn’t all bad today either – he played well at times.
