According to sports journalist Nicolò Schira on X, Tottenham Hotspur have seen their opening €45 million bid for Nico Paz rejected by Como, with the club preparing an improved offer to secure the highly rated midfielder.
The Italian side have made their stance clear on the 19-year-old, who has emerged as one of the brightest prospects in Serie A. Schira reported, “Como have turned down Tottenham’s bid (45M) for Nico Paz. Tottenham are preparing a new offer, even if Cesc Fabregas considers him untouchable.”
Fabregas, now a pivotal figure at Como, has expressed his determination to keep hold of the Argentine starlet, viewing him as a key figure for the club’s long-term ambitions. His influence in this transfer battle cannot be underestimated, as he shapes Como’s identity and future plans.

This saga is further complicated by Real Madrid’s involvement. Schira reminded followers, “Real Madrid have 50% on the future sale and a buyback clause valid until 2027.” That detail makes this negotiation intriguing. Any move for Paz not only requires agreement with Como but must also take Madrid’s contractual rights into account.
The Spanish giants clearly see value in maintaining a connection with the midfielder, and their buyback option could deter potential buyers from spending big without guarantees. For Tottenham, this means navigating a structure that satisfies both Como and Real Madrid while ensuring their investment is protected.
Thomas Frank has been clear about the need for creativity and energy in midfield. With European football on the horizon, Spurs want a player who can provide versatility and technical quality. Paz, known for his composure on the ball and ability to influence games from deep, fits that profile perfectly.

However, prising him away from Como will not be straightforward. With Fabregas viewing him as central to their project and Madrid holding future rights, Tottenham must present an offer that delivers immediate value and addresses all contractual complexities. Time will be crucial as the window edges closer to its final weeks.
For Tottenham, this move signals real ambition. Under Thomas Frank, Spurs have developed an exciting style of play, but there is an undeniable need for more depth and creativity in midfield. Nico Paz fits that bill perfectly. At just 19, he offers technical brilliance, composure, and the potential to become a key figure in the squad for years to come.
Cesc Fabregas calling him “untouchable” only adds to the excitement. If a player of his experience rates Paz so highly, it shows the calibre of talent Spurs are targeting. The reported €45 million bid is bold, and if a second offer is successful, it proves the club is serious about competing at the highest level in Europe.
The Real Madrid buyback clause adds an element of risk, but that should not deter Spurs. Bringing in a player of Paz’s quality, even for a few seasons, can transform the team and help secure Champions League consistency. Fans will hope the board backs Frank fully because this is the type of deal that could define Tottenham’s trajectory in the coming years.
