Sporting CP are prepared to launch an ambitions move to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo this summer as the club prepare for Viktor Gyokeres’ exit.

Gyokeres is set to leave Sporting this summer after two prolific campaigns in Portugal. The Swedish striker has scored 95 goals in 99 games for the Lisbon outfit and is attracting strong interest from the Premier League.

Sporting are understood to be prepared to accept offers north of €70m for their leading scorer. Arsenal and Manchester United are among the clubs interested in signing the 26-year-old.

Spanish outlet Fichajes are reporting that the Primeira Liga champions are interested in a bold move to re-sign Ronaldo from Al-Nassr. Ronaldo came through the academy at Sporting, before departing for Manchester United as a teenager.

He has since won five Ballon d’Or awards among his honours, setting goalscoring records in the Champions League and men’s international football, in addition to becoming Real Madrid’s all-time leading scorer.

Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in January 2022, signing for the Saudi Pro League side after the conclusion of his second spell at Manchester United. He signed a record-breaking salary in the Middle East and has since scored 97 goals in 107 appearances for Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo would be required to take a mammoth pay-cut to seal a return to Sporting, though the Portuguese outfit are hopeful the lure of concluding his career in his homeland could appeal.
