Drew Spence is hoping her past experiences in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, alongside other players in the squad that have tasted success with this trophy, can help inspire Robert Vilahamn’s side on Sunday afternoon.

It’s fair to say that the 31-year-old has some excellent memories of competing in this competition, from it being one of the first trophies she lifted in her extensive career before going onto win it a further three times, while competing in a number of finals.

Upon joining the club ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, the Jamaica international wanted to be part of a side that could challenge for trophies and, with only one stop away from the showpiece final at Wembley, Drew believes performances have shown this season that we can challenge the best teams in the league.

Speaking in an exclusive interview in the matchday programme for the visit of Leicester City to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Drew said: “When I first joined the Club, I said I wanted to be part of a team that could challenge for trophies and, I think, the team has made good progression this year and we have shown that we can compete with the best teams in the league.

“This is the first trophy I won in my career but, also, the first trophy I have lost. I think for anyone that has grown up with football around them in England, they all know how big this trophy is, the history behind it, and I have been fortunate to win it four times and play in numerous finals.

“Now we are in the semi-final and only two games away from lifting the trophy and, I think, my experience alongside Bethany’s [England] and Becky’s [Spencer] can help massively.”

Sunday’s matchday programme against Leicester City will be on sale at the game and this season’s Spurs Women’s issues will also be available to buy online…

Making our first-ever appearance in the final four of the competition this Sunday (14 April), it will undoubtedly be an historic occasion for our Women’s team, but we are eager to go one step further and earn a place in May’s showpiece final at Wembley. And your support in N17 will be vital to us achieving that dream!
