Southampton sign winger Mislav Oršić from Dinamo Zagreb | OneFootball

Southampton have added a boost to their attacking line after signing Mislav Oršić on Friday.

The 30-year-old winger arrives from Dinamo Zagreb on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

“Mislav is a significant addition to our squad and I’m delighted we have been able to get him in so quickly this month,” said Southampton manager Nathan Jones.

“He’s a serious attacking threat and I’m sure anyone who has followed his progress or saw what he achieved at the World Cup will realise the talent he has. We’re excited to have him here.”

“I feel very happy to be here, I think it’s a dream for every football player to come to play in the Premier League and I’m here, I’m ready, I’m motivated and I hope that I will help the team to achieve their goals,” added Orsic.

“It’s a little bit of a difficult situation for the club, but I think we need to stay together. We have only one plan – everybody to stay in the Premier League.”

Southampton have only scored 15 goals from 18 games in the Premier League and subsequently sit bottom of the table. Meanwhile, Oršić has impressed domestically, in the Champions League and with Croatia at the World Cup.

At club level, he has 13 goals and eight assists in 27 appearances this season, including the winner in a 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the UCL.

In Qatar, he registered two key assists to help Croatia reach the third-place match against Morocco where his goal won the match 2-1.

During his career with Dinamo Zagreb, Oršić made 216 appearances scoring 91 goals for the club.
