Southampton will meet Arsenal in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday after overcoming Shrewsbury Town 2-0 on Tuesday night.
Scorers: NâLundulu 17â˛, Ward-Prowse 89â˛.
21-year-old Dan NâLundulu gave the Saints the lead with his first goal for the club on his first ever start.
The striker worked a shot for himself and drilled the ball into the bottom corner after Shrewsbury had failed to clear James Ward-Prowseâs long ball into the penalty area.
The League One side were up against a much-changed Southampton side but failed to threaten Frazer Forster in goal with Matthew Penningtonâs header deflecting wide turning out to be their best opening of the second half.
Che Adams made his return to the side off the bench and shouldâve doubled their lead when he rounded Matija Ĺ arkiÄ before having his shot cleared off the line.
It was left to their captain Ward-Prowse to round the tie off with a trademark free-kick which crept past Ĺ arkiÄ in the dying minutes to seal their place in the next round.
