Crystal Palace’s late attempt to hijack Southampton’s pursuit of West Ham winger Maxwel Cornet is set to fail, according to ExWHUEmployee.
Cornet is set to leave West Ham today in search of regular first-team football and he has more than one suitor in the Premier League.
Southampton have been in talks to sign the player from West Ham today but Crystal Palace made a late offer to hijack the move.
The Eagles were also making progress in negotiations but their late attempt to sign him is likely to fail.
Cornet is expected to complete a move to Southampton in the coming hours despite interest from Palace.
The Saints have succeeded in convincing the player to opt for the move to the south coast of England.
He has already left the West Ham training base after saying his goodbyes and is on his way to Southampton.
The newly promoted Premier League club are racing to get a deal over the line before the window closes tonight.
