Southampton reject £19m Porto bid for Harwood-Bellis

Southampton have turned down a £19 million (€22 million) offer from FC Porto for centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis, according to Sky Sports on Monday.

The Saints, who were relegated to the Championship at the end of last season, are open to selling the former England Under-21 captain. Harwood-Bellis, 23, made 38 appearances and scored three goals last season for the Saints.

However, the same source reports that Porto’s bid was rejected because Southampton are holding out for a higher fee. The player was permanently signed from Manchester City a year ago for £15 million (€17 million).

Harwood-Bellis is under contract until 2028 and may be tempted by the prospect of playing at a higher level abroad, with Porto set to compete in the Europa League next term.
