Francesco Farioli has recommended Daniele Rugani to FC Porto’s management, Tuttosport reports. Interest in Kenneth Taylor was already apparent, but he’s not the only transfer target with a past in Amsterdam.

Rugani joined Ajax on loan from Juventus last season and quickly became one of Farioli’s most valued players. The 30-year-old defender made a mixed impression in Amsterdam, but still managed to tot up 26 official appearances.

This summer, he returned to Turin, where he is “determined to prove himself again in the Juventus shirt.” At the Club World Cup, he started in the round of 16, defeat to Real Madrid (1-0). He also reportedly played a major leading role in the dressing room.

Rugani has apparently made a good impression on Igor Tudor. However, his involvement isn’t a complete foregone conclusion, as there are other contenders. Farioli has reportedly mentioned Rugani’s name to Porto’s club management. He has maintained a good relationship with the defender from his time at Ajax and is convinced of his qualities. Genoa and Sassuolo are also said to be interested.

That said, the latter club are convinced that Juventus hold no intentions of letting Rugani leave. “Rugani is interesting, but I don’t think Juventus will sell him,” Giovanni Carnevali, CEO of Sassuolo, is quoted as saying by Tuttosport.

At Porto, Farioli is hoping not only for Rugani, but also for Kenneth Taylor. The midfielder could leave Ajax if the right offer is made, but Alex Kroes considers a previous €15 million far from sufficient.
