A West Ham source has told Football Insider that Coventry, 19, is now set to join League One outfit Lincoln for the remainder of the campaign.

The terms of the deal were agreed last week but manager David Moyes wanted him to be available for selection for last Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Gillingham.

In the event, Coventry did not feature as Moyes played a virtual full-strength team to secure a 2-0 win and progress into the fourth round of the competition.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international played for the Hammers’ Under-23s on Monday night and now has been given the green light to go on loan for the rest of the season.

West Ham rate Coventry highly and are eager for him to get regular game experience at a senior level.

He has yet to go out on loan although he has captained their Under-23s side this season and earned rave reviews for his performances.

His move to Lincoln on loan comes after his new West Ham deal landed a blow to his multiple suitors.
