Rangers and Todd Cantwell are considering parting ways, after Ibrox Noise sources learned of ‘issues’ with the playmaker and manager Philippe Cantwell following the Old Firm loss on Saturday.

Things have not been great between the two ever since ‘that’ subbing v Aris at Ibrox many months ago, Cantwell considering he was made a scapegoat that evening after the early humiliation of being removed, and despite the manager claiming in the press that it was all settled between himself and Rangers’ attacker, it appears the weekend’s act has deepened the divide between them.

The weekend’s act of course was being hauled off again in another move the playmaker feels like was scapegoating when he’d worked hard in the match (which he had) before his attempts at remonstrating with the referee themselves were hijacked as Clement shoved him to one side.

It appears Cantwell will be sold this summer – the relations between him and the manager are pretty much done, and Cantwell has had enough.

We’ve been heavy heavy critical of Rangers man Cantwell this season, he simply hasn’t been good enough overall albeit he has rebuilt some form the past 3 months so there’s been improvement – but the management of him under this Govan boss has been staggeringly awful, his being subject to treatment by Clement that no other player suffers.

And he’s seemingly had enough, and will try to get his move out.

In truth? We don’t really blame him.

He’s not being loved by the manager, and going by feedback on a praise post Ibrox Noise made of the ex-Norwich man, the supporters aren’t terribly fond of him either.

And we do think a lot of it is unfair, even if his ‘shoosh’ post was a really misguided dig at the fans, just like Ibrox team mate Fabio Silva’s attempt a week or two earlier.

And Clement has plenty of previous for being ‘dodgy’ with individuals – quietly, behind the scenes he makes it clear who he’s happy with and who he isn’t, which is fine, but then he takes into the public arena and fails to man-manage particularly well.

So it appears Cantwell will be one of many on their way out – he could have been a lot more for Rangers than he’s ended up being, but a lot of that was being badly-managed by both Michael Beale and now Clement.

And being distracted by Chris Sutton…
