“Not enough” – club rejects Rangers’ £6M bid for striker

Rapid Bucharest have seemingly rejected Rangers’ reported £6M bid for Kosovo striker Albion Rrahmani, after club president Viorel Moldovan confirmed a bid came in and wasn’t enough, simply put.

It was understood Slavia Praha were preparing a £3M bid for the striker but that Rangers were ready to blow them out of the water with one double that, based on Wien’s asking price of £5M plus addons, but it appears Rangers’ bid may not have been enough either.

He said:

“At the moment, there is an offer for Rrahmani that, from our point of view, is not at his level and value. I cannot disclose the source of the offer, but we want Rrahmani to stay with us. He is under contract with the club, a very important player for us, and we hope he will help us achieve our goals.”

It’s possible the offer is from Praha, and Rangers have not actually made a bid yet, because we’re fairly sure Bucharest would be happy with a circa £6M submission for their star player, even if they don’t exactly want to sell him, period.

We are clearly aware Praha’s number falls below even his market value, never mind Rangers’ reported numbers, but either way, the president has said no to whoever bid on the hitman and made overtures towards keeping him in Romania.

Whether Rangers will continue working towards this signing is anyone’s guess at this point.
