Chelsea have been linked to all manner of players this summer, but this latest link has raised our eyebrows as it’s pretty new.
Harvey Elliott has shown immense talent ever since breaking through as a youngster, and Liverpool rate him very highly. But he’s struggled for first team minutes there, especially under Arne Slot who doesn’t seem to fancy him as much as Jurgen Klopp.

That’s leading to some rumours that he could leave, and CaughtOffside today say that the attacking midfielder could be ready to leave Anfield this summer. Brighton have “shown the strongest interest so far” but Chelsea are “one of the teams keeping an eye on the situation.”
It would fit with our policy of signing all the best young players in the world, although Elliott would be very expensive as a Champions League proven star with tons more potential to unlock. His fears of struggling for minutes at Stamford Bridge as he has at Anfield might also play into a potential decision, with Brighton able to offer him regular starter status. Liverpool may simply decide they don’t want to sell.
It’s also potentially relevant that Elliott was once in Chelsea’s youth academy as a very young kid.
Elliott’s situation is very reminiscent of Cole Palmer’s a couple of years ago. A talented English player in their early 20s at a top club not getting the minutes they want or deserve. Could Chelsea potentially pull off another superb coup as they did with Palmer? We would certainly love to see it.
This is still very much in the early stages, but could be worth keeping an eye on as the summer continues.
