Celtic are set to lose out in their bid to sign Tottenham attacker Jack Clarke after tabling an offer too late, Football Insider can reveal.
The Scottish giants made a move for the 19-year-old forward that Football Insider revealed last Saturday.
A Spurs source has told Football Insider that Clarke was interested in Celtic’s offer but was already in negotiations to join QPR on loan by that point.
He has agreed to join the Championship club – a deal is set to be announced imminently – and is in line to make his debut against former club Leeds United at Loftus Road on Saturday.
Signing Clarke ahead of Celtic and multiple English clubs is a real coup for Mark Warburton’s side.
Football Insider revealed last week that QPR were among the three clubs leading the loan race for the winger, 19, along with Derby County and Millwall.
Middlesbrough, Fulham, Swansea City and Nottingham Forest also made moves for the wide man along with Celtic.
The Scottish champions are in the market for attacking talent despite signing Polish centre-forward Patryk Klimala yesterday for around £3.5million.
They sold Scott Sinclair to Preston North End last week and have agreed to sell Lewis Morgan to new MLS club Inter Miami for around £300,000.
Clarke spent the first half of this season back on loan at Leeds but only made three appearances and Spurs cut it short at the midway point to find him a new club.
In other Celtic news, it can be REVEALED that the club have made a last-ditch swoop to sign central midfielder ahead of English giants.
