Alexander-Arnold Set for Liverpool Return as Slot Issues Update

Trent Alexander-Arnold is edging closer to a long-awaited return for Liverpool after manager Arne Slot confirmed the right-back is back in full training and could make the squad for the upcoming clash against Leicester City.

The England international has been sidelined since sustaining an ankle injury in a high-stakes encounter against Paris Saint-Germain. At the time, there were genuine concerns that the setback could prematurely end his season – and potentially, his time at Anfield.

Those fears, however, appear to have been put to rest by Slot, who spoke openly about Alexander-Arnold’s rehabilitation and his chances of featuring in Sunday’s fixture.

Slot Delivers Encouraging News on Trent

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Slot provided clarity on the defender’s status. While he ruled out a starting role, he left the door open for a bench appearance.

“Not to start but if today and tomorrow things go well, he might be on the bench. “But definitely not start because he’s out for five-and-a-half weeks and this is, today (Friday), probably his first session with the team. “It was Wednesday I think he did parts of the team session, so he’s not able to start but hopefully he can be able to join us because, for Conor (Bradley), he has been out for a long time so for him to play 90 isn’t easy as well. “So it would be nice if Trent is with us at the weekend.”

Slot’s remarks offer optimism for Liverpool fans, especially as the business end of the campaign approaches. Alexander-Arnold’s return adds vital depth to a defensive unit that has endured its fair share of adversity this season.

Bradley Continues to Impress

Conor Bradley is expected to retain his starting position against Leicester, having performed admirably during the 68 minutes he played in the previous fixture versus West Ham. He was replaced by Jarell Quansah late in that match, a move that seemed precautionary rather than indicative of form.

For a young player thrust into a pressure-packed environment, Bradley’s maturity and energy have been notable. Yet, with Alexander-Arnold closing in on full fitness, the dynamic at right-back could soon evolve, offering Slot more tactical flexibility.

Commitment Unshaken Despite Contract Talks

Speculation around Alexander-Arnold’s long-term future continues to swirl amid reports that he has turned down a new contract. Nonetheless, Slot was quick to downplay any suggestion of disinterest or distraction.

“Trent is coming back from an injury, trained with us yesterday and every day he plays with and trains with us he shows his commitment,” said Slot. “He’s worked so hard to be back already now and the moment he’s on the pitch, he shows us what a great football player he is and how much he’s involved in us trying to achieve our goals this season. “He’s worked so hard during the whole season and now in his rehab to be back with the team again. “The fans of Liverpool, everyone who watches football for the last five, six, seven years knows that he is an incredible full-back, has been an incredible full-back for this football club, and let’s see what the future brings.”

While Slot remained coy on whether new deals for Virgil van Dijk or Mohamed Salah might influence Alexander-Arnold’s decision, his consistent praise suggests the manager holds the 25-year-old in the highest regard.

Liverpool Eyeing Strong Finish

As Liverpool push for a strong finish to the campaign, Alexander-Arnold’s return could prove timely. His creativity from deep positions, leadership on the pitch, and understanding of high-pressure situations will be invaluable as Slot looks to build momentum and further stamp his identity on the squad.

The full-back’s influence – both on and off the ball – could be a decisive factor in determining whether Liverpool secure silverware or stumble in the final stretch.
