Yunus Musah has been training away from the group recently, but there are hopes that he can be present for AC Milan this weekend.
Paulo Fonseca has been more open to giving Musah minutes than Stefano Pioli was for large parts of last season, but even then, he has not played as much as some would hope. The American is still yet to be fully ‘unlocked’, as it were, and with the Portuguese’s midfield needing specific profiles, thus far it has been difficult for him to find a role.
Against Real Madrid, he was phenomenal, playing in a defensive winger role, and this was probably his best performance in a Milan shirt, but it seems the club want him playing centrally, perhaps in a midfield three.
In fact, there were suggestions that against Genoa last weekend he could have played behind the striker, but he missed the game due to a muscle injury, which has kept him from training with the squad so far this week, as Sky (via Milan News) reports.
However, there is hope that he can be with the team for Friday’s clash against Verona. According to the report, he continued with his individual training plan today preparing to re-join the group when he is ready to do so, but a decision has not been made about whether he will be available for this week’s fixture.
