AC Milan appear to be on the brink of missing out on primary defensive target Mohamed Simakan, who has agreed a move to RB Leipzig.

It has been reported by a number of different sources that Simakan is the No.1 target for the Milan management in the January window, however their pursuit has been complicated in the last few days.

The 20-year-old centre-back suffered an injury in Strasbourg’s last game against RC Lens resulting in him needing a minor knee surgery that will keep him out for six weeks, leading to suggestions Paolo Maldini and co. are looking elsewhere.

According to the latest from Sky Germany reporter Max Bielefeld, Simakan said “yes” to RB Leipzig and wants to go to the Bundesliga. He’s convinced by the whole project, with personal terms also agreed.

However, he adds that there has been no offer yet from RB Leipzig to Strasbourg, so the deal can not yet be called imminent.
