West Ham United target El Hadji Malick Diouf played his last game for SK Slavia Prague today, with the club taking to social media platform X to post a clip of him saying his goodbyes to his teammates after the match.
The Senegal international defender will now undergo his medical with the Hammers later this week after an agreement was reached between the London Stadium club and Slavia Prague.
West Ham United had a bid of £17 million (€20m) rejected for the 20-year-old left-back some weeks ago but have now accepted to pay £22m for his services, with £5m to come in add-ons.
The Hammers have yet to make any first-team signing so far this summer and Diouf could become their first major arrival as manager Graham Potter looks to rebuild his squad and challenge for the continental places next season.
West Ham finished 14th in the Premier League last season and Potter will be desperate to see them perform better going forward after an underwhelming campaign.
They have signed Jean-Clair Todibo permanently after his loan spell last term while teenage striker Daniel Cummings has joined from Celtic, but they need to add more quality players to their ranks to challenge for the top-seven next season, and the impending arrival of Diouf comes in handy.
His arrival could lead to the departure of Emerson, and West Ham will hope the Senegalese manages to hit the ground running after impressing in the Czech Republic.
He ended last season with seven goals and two assists in 29 games for the Czech First League club, and his performance against England while on international duty last month caught the eyes of many as he played a huge role to help Senegal to a 3-1 victory.
Diouf will fancy his chances of replicating such performances in the West Ham colours, and signing him could prove to be a smart recruitment in the coming months and seasons.
