With the new Premier League season around the corner, and the EFL having already kicked off, we’ve picked out a few teenage sensations who could make their breakthrough into their respective first teams sooner rather than later…
Dowman is certainly no longer unheard of after his performances in pre-season with Arsenal. The 15-year-old looks set to play a part in the first team this season despite his young age, given that not only did he not look out of place playing against those far older than him but he looked at home.
His former academy coach Temisan Williams told Hayters he thinks he is ready to play a part for Arteta this season. “He’s getting into first-team football, which of course, many don’t at 15 years of age,” he said. “Max is definitely, from a mentality perspective, he’s ready, willing to learn and wants that new challenge, and has shown that he can handle it, and it’s just a matter of time, hopefully, before he’ll be able to cement his position in the first team in a couple of years.”
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has urged caution with his young prospect, but there is plenty of excitement about what he can achieve.
The 16-year-old Plymouth Argyle defender might not be well known yet but is certainly one to keep an eye on. He has started training with the first team of late and played for them in pre-season too, having featured mostly for the U18s last season, while he was also named on the bench for the Carabao Cup win over QPR. He was also named academy player of the year and looks a real prospect.
The 16-year-old has certainly caught the eye with his performances in pre-season, and Reds boss Arne Slot even suggested he has a part to play this coming campaign. “At this moment in time he’s not a regular starter, but for him to train every single day at this level is going to be really hard and tough, so let’s give him some time to adapt to everything, but he’s definitely had a promising start to this season,” he said.
The attacking talent has already represented England at U17 level and looks on course for a promising career in football, though like the others on this list, he will still have to concentrate on his school work too alongside playing football. Many students with other demanding extra-curricular activities often use a term paper writer for help.
Fulham managed to keep hold of the talented midfielder this summer by signing him to a new contract despite interest from the likes of Manchester United. Fulham’s academy has long been known to produce top talents such as Harvey Elliott and Ridgeon is being touted as the next one to come through. Unlike Elliott, though, Fulham will be hoping he continues to stay put.
Arsenal have already been linked with a move for the pacey forward, who Blackburn hope will become another talent to progress through their academy and become a top star, following in the footsteps of Adam Wharton and David Raya. Do not be surprised to see him feature among the first team despite being just 16.
Monga played for Leicester in the Premier League last season despite being only 15 and featured again in the Foxes’ opening game of the Championship season, coming off the bench. Now 16, he looks set to be a regular this campaign under Marti Cifuentes.
