It’s been an incredible journey so far, with so much more to come.

To celebrate his sixth anniversary, here are a mix of memorable moments and stats achieved by our brilliant midfielder.

Inter - JUNE 2023

Who else but Rodri should seal the Treble?

Having secured the Premier League and FA Cup, City took on Inter Milan at the Atatürk Stadium in Istanbul, looking to win the Champions League for the first time.

With the game still goalless midway through the second-half, Manuel Akanji fed Bernardo on the right of the box and his pass back the edge of the box was met by Rodri who swept a low shot past Andre Onana from 20 yards to score the only goal of the game and send City fans wild.

Stat Attack

Rodri has so far made 265 appearances for the Blues.

That equates to 20,734 minutes on duty for the Spain star, who has also scored 26 goals and assisted 30 more for his team-mates, making 256 chances overall.

He has been on the winning side 195 times out of those 265 games, drawing a further40 – that means that 89% of the games he’s played for City have ended without defeat.

And Rodri has an outstanding pass accuracy of 92.05% with a total of 20,271successful balls to his team-mates.

And the 1,964 times he has won possession underline why he is the best in the world at what he does.

Aston Villa - MAY 2022

We all know the story.

City trailed 2-0  in a game w couldn’t lose with about 15 minutes remaining against Aston Villa at the Etihad.

Ilkay Gundogan’s header halved the deficit on 76 minutes and two minutes later, excellent work from Oleksandr Zinchenko saw the Ukrainian roll the ball invitingly towards Rodri who struck a precise, low shot into the bottom left-hand corner from 20 yards out to make it 2-2.

Three minutes after that, Gundogan scored again to complete an incredible five minutes and secure the Premier League title.

Arsenal  - JANUARY 2022

A midday kick-off on New Year’s Day – not the best if you have to travel 200 miles to North London.

With Chelsea and Liverpool in the Blues’ rear-view mirror, dropping points was not an option at the Emirates.

But Bukayo Saka’s first-half goal gave the Gunners the advantage at the break before a Riyad Mahrez penalty levelled matters after half-time.

Gabriel then saw red for the home side who battled all the way to added time before Rodri scrambled a last-gasp winner before sprinting shirtless to the celebrate in front of the Arsenal fans.

Bayern Munich - APRIL 2023

On a blustery evening at the Etihad, City looked to take a healthy first leg Champions League quarterfinal lead over Bayern Munich.

Both sides had chances before Rodri picked up the ball on 27 minutes, cut in from the right and then curled a sumptuous shot into the top left-hand corner of the net to set us on our way.

Further goals from Bernardo and Erling Haaland sealed a 3-0 win over the German side.

Unbeaten Rodri

No Premier League player has remained unbeaten for their club longer that Rodri has.

Our No.16 went from 5 February  2023 to 25 May 2024 without losing a game in a City shirt.

That’s 74 games and 475 days without defeat – Ricardo Carvalho of Chelsea held the previous record of 58.

The Blues did lose a penalty shoot-out against Real Madrid, but not the game which ended 1-1 – many statisticians don’t count that as a defeat, but even if it were, his run stretched for 66 games and 337 days.
